Lifeguard Cadet Program
The Newport Beach Lifeguard Cadet Program is
organized through the Lifeguard Training Division. The Cadet Program is set up
for youths that are at least 15 years of age prior to April 1st, 2008. The
program will provide each individual with a lifeguard training course to advance
their skills in an ocean environment. Each participant will gain valuable
experience towards an actual ocean lifeguard position when they become eligible
to tryout for a seasonal ocean lifeguard position.
To qualify for the program, each individual must pass a competitive ocean swim and run-swim-run tryout. The top candidates, after passing a physical exam and written job requirements, will be invited to participate in the program.
